Rank Reasons
Eriogonum nutans occurs in the western United States and is comprised of two varieties, Eriogonum nutans var. nutans in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, and Utah, and Eriogonum nutans var. glabratum, a Nevada endemic. Combined, there are around 100 or more occurrences. Threats and trends are not known.
Range Extent Comments
Eriogonum nutans occurs in the western United States. There are two varieties. Eriogonum nutans var. glabratum is restricted to Elko County, Nevada and variety Eriogonum nutans var. nutans occurs sporadically in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, and Utah.
Occurrences Comments
There are 80 or more occurrences of Eriogonum nutans var. nutans rangewide based on a combination of data sources including NatureServe Network data, herbarium specimens, and photo based observations (GBIF 2020, iNaturalist 2020, SEINet 2020). Careful vetting of data, survey of historical occurrences, and inventory of suitable habitat are needed to refine this number, which could be higher or lower. There are fewer than 20 occurrences for Eriogonum nutans var. glabratum.
