Taxonomic Comments
Stotler and Crandall-Stotler (2017) elevate Frullania tamarisci ssp. asagrayana (= F. asagrayana) to full species level (and F. tamarisci ssp. nisquallensis to F. nisquallensis). Frullania tamarisci sensu stricto is is common throughout Europe, but in North America is restricted to the extreme northeastern United States and Canada (Stotler and Crandall-Stotler 2017).

This species is endemic to eastern North America from Newfoundland south to Georgia and west through Ontario, Minnesota, and south to Arkansas (Stotler and Crandall-Stotler, 2017).
