Taxonomic Comments
This record represents the broad concept of Geranium caespitosum following FNA (vol. 13, 2024) including G. atropurpureum var. atropurpureum, G. atropurpureum var. cowenii, G. caespitosum var. caespitosum, G. caespitosum var. eremophilum, G.caespitosum var. fremontii, and G. caespitosum var. parryi. FNA (vol. 13, 2024) does not distinguish infrataxa in G. caespitosum. In contrast, Kartesz (1994) distinguished G. atropurpureum, with varieties atropurpureum and cowenii, and G. caespitosum, with varieties caespitosum, eremophilum, fremontii, and parryi.
