Rank Reasons
Rough-rib Harbouria (Harbouria trachypleura) occurs in the Rocky Mountains of the western United States, from the Medicine Bow Mountains of southeastern Wyoming, along the Colorado Front Range, south to mountains in central New Mexico. It is threatened by loss of habitat caused by residential, tourism and recreation related development and invasive exotic plants. It occurs on six National Forests (throughout its range), Rocky Mountain National Park, and on BLM lands.
Range Extent Comments
Rough-rib Harbouria (Harbouria trachypleura) occurs in the Rocky Mountains of the western United States. It occurs from the Medicine Bow Mountains of southeastern Wyoming, along the Colorado Front Range, south to mountains in central New Mexico. Reports from Utah are erroneous. Range extent was estimated to be 183,000 square kilometers, using herbarium specimens and photo-based observations documented between 1992 and 2023 (GBIF 2023, iNaturalist 2023, SEINet 2023).
Occurrences Comments
By applying a 1 km separation distance to herbarium records and photo-based observations documented between 1992 and 2023, it is estimated that there are more than 200 occurrences rangewide (GBIF 2023, iNaturalist 2023, SEINet 2023).
Threat Impact Comments
Threats include loss of habitat caused by residential, tourism and recreation related development and invasive exotic plants.
