Taxonomic Comments
Heuchera soltisii is described as a new species by Folk and Alexander (2015). "The treatment of Heuchera in FNA (vol. 8, 2009) refers to Organ Mountains populations of H. soltisii as an aberrant glabrous-petioled variant of H. novomexicana." Now that a greater amount of material has become available from the southwestern U.S.A., taxonomic reevaluations have revealed significant problems with the concept of H. novomexicana (Folk and Alexander 2015). H. soltisii occurs disjunctly in the higher mountain ranges of the Basin-and-Range of southwestern New Mexico in three distinct areas (Folk and Alexander 2015).
