Taxonomic Comments
Flora North America vol. 26 (2002) does not recognize the subspecies of Iris hartwegii as distinct, however, Wilson (2003) provides molecular evidence that supports the uncertainty implied in the Flora North America treatment, however, also provides adequate evidence additional study is needed to resolve this group. Wilson (2003) recognizes subspecies within I. hartwegii, and she is also the expert cited by the Jespon eFlora for the Iris hartwegii complex.
