Taxonomic Comments
Broich's treatment in FNA (2023, vol. 11) recognizes Lathyrus vestitus with three varieties (as described by Isely 1992): vestitus, ochropetalus, and alefeldii. Included in the synonymy of var. vestitus are L. vestitus ssp. bolanderi (in part), ssp. laetiflorus, and ssp. laevicarpus as they were accepted in Broich (1987) and Kartesz (1994, 1999); var. ochropetalus includes L. peckii and Isely (1992) explains that some plants previously identified as L. vestitus ssp. bolanderi are distinguishable as var. ochropetalus.
