Taxonomic Comments
Grusz and Windham (2013) place this species in Myriopteris. The generic placement of this taxon, in Myriopteris, is in accordance with the Pteridophyte Phylogeny Group I (2016).

Grusz and Windham (2013) note, "In Cheilanthes, this has been called C. villosa Davenp. ex Maxon. Because transfer of the epithet villosa to Myriopteris is blocked by the earlier publication of M. villosa Fée (= M. lendigera fide Reeves 1979), we use the replacement name for this distinctive taxon published by Grusz (2013)."
