Taxonomic Comments
Although WoRMS (Sartori et al. 2016) recognizes Mytilus zonarius as the current name, published sources still recognize M. californianus as the current name (see Coan and Valentich-Scott 2012, Lutaenko and Kolpakov 2016 and Turgeon et al. 1998). Further, Lutaenko and Kolpakov (2016) note that Mytilus zonarius Lamarck 1819 and M. canalis Lamarck 1819 are synonyms of M. californianus, citing Huber 2010.
