Taxonomic Comments
FNA (vol. 12, 2016) treats Oxalis articulata in a broad sense, with no infrataxa distinguished. FNA (vol. 12, 2016) states that "O. articulata in the United States commonly has been identified as O. rubra. O. rubra was treated at subspecific rank by A. Lourteig (1982), but ssp. articulata and ssp. rubra have essentially the same native range and occur in similar habitats." Kartesz (1994) also treated O. articulata broadly but recognized O. articulata ssp. rubra. In contrast, Kartesz (1999) elevated "rubra" to species level as O. rubra and considered that O. articulata in the strict sense does not occur in North America.
