Rank ReasonsPeltigera collina is a circumpolar species, although it does not have a continuous range. The lichen is common and widespread in the western United States, from low elevations to subalpine habitat; it is very rare in the eastern United States. The species also occurs on the north shore of Lake Superior in Ontario and South America.
