Rank Reasons
It can be rather easily collected in a number of the US National Forests; in Mexico it is found in the states of Sonora, Chichuahua, Durango and San Luis Potosi. It grows on lower slopes and foothills of mountains at 1,500-2,400 m altitude; it does not form extensive forests but grows in open woodlands as scattered individuals mingled with other pines.
