Taxonomic Comments
Salicornia depressa following Flora North America vol. 4 represents a very different circumscription than represented by Kartesz (1999)'s treatment of Salicornia. Salicornia virginicus is nomenclaturally rejected, and the taxon represented by 'virginicus' is called S. depressa by Flora North America. Further, material that Kartesz (1999) calls S. maritima and S. rubra appear to be lumped into the Flora North America vol. 4 concept of S. depressa (based on distributional comparisons as opposed to synonymy). It should be noted that Flora North America recognizes S. rubra and S. maritima as distinct but with different circumscriptions and distributions than Kartesz (1999).
