Taxonomic Comments
This record represents the narrow concept of Solidago lepida following Semple (2013) within which two varieties are distinguished: S. lepida var. lepida and S. lepida var. salebrosa. In contrast, FNA (vol. 20, 2006), treated S. lepida broadly to include S. lepida ssp. lepida (within which varieties S. lepida var. lepida and S. lepida var. salebrosa were distinguished) and S. lepida ssp. fallax. Semple (2013) elevates S. lepida ssp. fallax to S. fallax, and distinguishes two varieties: S. fallax var. fallax and S. fallax var. molina within, leaving S. lepida here a more narrow concept. Semple (2013) additionally recognizes the species S. brendiae (= S. bartramiana). In contrast, to both of these treatments, Kartesz (1999) placed material attributed to 'lepida' in S. canadensis
