Taxonomic Comments
Mark et al. (2016) here expand the concept of Usnea lapponica to include U. substerilis and U. stuppea, while Esslinger and Egan (1995) treat them as distinct. Esslinger (2018) follows Mark et al. (2016) and treats U. lapponica as U. perplexans.
