Taxonomic Comments
Sigel et al. (2014) and Assis et al. (2016) confirm the monophyly and circumscribe the genus Polypodium. The generic placement of this taxon is in accordance with the Pteridophyte Phylogeny Group I (2016).

This species is an allotetraploid derived from hybridization of Polypodium californica and P. glycyrrhiza, and it is difficult to identify (FNA 1993).
