Rank Reasons
According to Baldwin (2003), this species is common in the Peninsular Ranges of three southern California counties growing in the chaparral and coastal scrub. The vars. grow mixed in south San Diego Co., with some individuals not placeable. This species also occurs in Baja California. Wiggins (1980) gives the distribution of C. fimbriata var. fimbriata from central Baja California north to Los Angeles Co., California. C. fimbriata var. laciniata occurs north from Sierra Juarez in Baja California north to southern California.
