A circumpolar species; in North America in Alaska, Yukon, British Columbia into the western District of Mackenzie, and southwards in subalpine and alpine situations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado. Common in the Yukon and northern British Columbia, and Alaska. Found in moist montane and alpine meadows, moist tundra, streambanks, late snow patches, etc.
