Esslinger, T.L. and R.S. Egan. 1995. A sixth checklist of the lichen-forming, lichenicolous, and allied fungi of the continental United States and Canada. The Bryologist 98(4): 467-549.
Taxonomic Comments
Stable; see D. Galloway, 1991. Tropical Lichens: Their systematics, conservation and ecology. All specimens from the eastern and central U.S., previously identified as Chrysothrix candelaris, examined by Harris and Ladd (2008), are indistinguishable from C. xanthina. Esslinger lists both in his 2012 version of the checklist for the continental U.S. and Canada.
