Rank ReasonsCeanothus fresnensis is endemic to California and is known from Calaveras, Fresno, Madera, Mariposa, Tulare and Tuolumne counties (CNPS 2001). While C. fresnensis is considered uncommon, it is found in sufficient numbers and is distributed widely enough that the threat of extinction is currently low (CNPS 2001). It is found in cismontane woodland and lower montane coniferous forest between 900 and 2000 meters in elevation (CNPS 2001) and specifically, it inhabits dry ridges (Hickman 1993).
Range Extent CommentsEndemic to California, occurring on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains from Plumas County to Tulare County.
