Cavernularia lophyrea occurs on bark and wood (mainly conifers) on the coast from Alaska to California. It occurs fairly frequently in low to mid-elevation conifer forests on the immediate coast, occurring more sporadically in the Coast Range.

Habitat

Low to mid-elevation conifer forests. Most commonly found in semi-open coastal Pinus contorta and Picea sitchensis forests. Substrate: bark and wood, mainly conifers (McCune and Geiser 1997).
