Habitat

On gravelly, often granitic, substrates; in dry forest openings, disturbed areas, roadbanks, and exposed runoff areas within coniferous forest communities (Yellow Pine Forest, Red Fir Forest, Lodgepole Forest, Montane Coniferous Forest, Subalpine Forest). 1500 - 3400 m.
