Ecology & Habitat

Habitat

Open forest slopes at 2,420-3,460 m elevation. Sheltered, rocky to gravelly slopes in pine forests (Flora of North America Editorial Committee 2006). Forested carbonate slopes, and adjacent ridges and low outcrops, in the subalpine and montane conifer zones with Pinus longaeva, P. flexilis, and P. ponderosa (Morefield 2001).
