Taxonomic Comments
Mosyakin (2016) recognizes Pulsatilla patens ssp. multifida as P. nuttalliana. "The North American taxon has a very complicated synonymy and it is definitely not identical with the typical European-Western Asian P. patens sensu stricto (ssp. patens). Its correct name as a species of Pulsatilla is P. nuttalliana" (Mosyakin 2016). Kartesz (1994, 1999) recognized this taxon as Pulsatilla patens ssp. multifida while Flora of North America Editorial Committee (1997) treated it as Anemone patens var. multifida.
