Taxonomic Comments
FNA (vol. 21, 2006) expands the concept of Liatris punctata to include L. mucronata (= L. punctata var. mucronata) as a variety of L. punctata, recognizing three varieties in total (punctata, mucronata, and mexicana). FNA includes L. punctata var. nebraskana in L. punctata var. punctata, while Kartesz (1994) here treats them as distinct.
