Taxonomic Comments
Research found that Juniperus occidentalis var. australis is more closely related to Juniperus osteosperma than to Juniperus occidentalis and led to the recognition of this taxon as a distinct species, named Juniperus grandis (Adams et al. 2006, Adams 2019). This record is for Juniperus occidentalis in the narrow sense, excluding material now segregated as Juniperus grandis.
