Taxonomic Comments
FNA (vol. 19, 2006) includes Agoseris gaspensis, A. lackschewitzii, and A. carnea in the synonymy of A. aurantiaca var. aurantiaca. Kartesz (1994 and 1999) accepted A. gaspensis and A. lackschewitzii (presumably including A. carnea based on the distribution shown in Kartesz 1999, even though the name is not mentioned) as distinct. Lesica (2012) includes plants previously called A. lackschewitzii and A. carnea (as indistinct from each other) in A. aurantiaca, but describes them as the distinct variety A. aurantiaca var. carnea in addition to the variety var. purpurea.
